40 minutes drive from Inverness

Located in the heart of the Northern Highlands of Scotland, on the NC500 route, built in 1794, our wonderful, early Georgian country house is the perfect base for an exclusive use Self Catering Holiday for a large group of friends, family, a small Wedding or business get together. The main house on its own can sleep 18 persons, with the additional rooms and beds in the dormitory, together with the cottage can sleep up to 36 persons in total.

The house is set in 33 acres, including a secret walled garden, terraced lawns to the front, mature trees and rhododendrons, and an ancient burial ground of the Romanes family. The approach to the house includes views of the Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle, and in spring is a riot of wildflowers including bluebells and daffodils.

For celebrations there is a coach house, a rustic style barn, holding up to 60 persons, a Bar, Music, and Catering could be organised with extra local accommodation arranged for extra guests if required. The barn is approx 60 metres from the main house. For the colder months we have a Wood Burning Stove on the ground floor – entrance to the Coachhouse.

Peaceful and elegant, Pitcalzean House is a relaxing haven where you can enjoy the perfect break. There is an impressive and elegant drawing room with lovely garden views, a spacious dining room once graced by the visiting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1974, and a fine snooker room for evening entertainment.

This area is peaceful and quiet with some lovely sandy beaches (Shandwick, Portmahomack and Dornoch) and dolphin watching or fishing cruises. Inverness is just 36 miles away and the airport just a little further.

Tain, the nearest town, is an historic market town with attractive shops and cafés. The famous Glenmorangie distillery is 6 miles away.

There is plenty to do for all the family – hill walking, beachcombing, dolphin spotting and golf. There is a 9-hole golf course at Tarbat nearby and also that most famous of Scottish courses – Royal Dornoch – just a 20-minute drive away.
